FELLOWSHIPS

There are many ways to get involed in the mission and activities at First Congregational Church.  Consider joining one of our many fellowships!

Faith Works

Otherwise known as the "Faith Posse", this is a fun group of church members and friends who seek out ways to provide hospitality, reach out to our neighbors, create mission opportunities and fundraise to support the church buget.   Some of their projects include monthly chicken and biscuit dinners, hospitality tables with free hot chocolate and popcorn during city parades, and a "Super Giveaway" day that provides warm winter clothes and blankets to the needy.

Churchmen's Fellowship

If something needs fixing or cooking at the church, you can always find this social group of men (and women) standing at the ready with screwdrivers and spatulas in hand!  This wonderful group takes on large-scale projects such as the remodeling of our Fellowship Hall, the refinishing of our 150+ year old front doors.  They provide many meals throughout the year, including a continental breakfast on Easter Morning.  The group is also a major contributor to church fundraising efforts, the most visable being our annual chicken bbq.

Ladybugs

Originally started as a group of young mothers who's mission was to support the efforts of the Sunday School, this group has now matured and refocused it's mission.  Their fellowship takes place over friendly "dutch-treat" dinners in area resturants.  Their projects still include supporting the Sunday school, such as hosting a Christmas Eve dinner and giving gifts to each child.  They also stand at the ready to provide meals and receptions for funerals, weddings and other special occasions.  The Ladybugs play a large role in church fundraising in supporting the rummage sales and with their annual bake sale at the chicken bbq.  Their pies can't be beat!

Helpers Society

This group of ladies are small in number but mightly in Godly works!  Their projects include making blankets for newly baptised babies, preparing health and school kits for Church World Service, and collecting Campbell's soup lables under the "Lables for Education" program for area school districts.  These fine women also collect pennies for "Pennies for People"  and stay involved in community, denominational and ecumenical activites through Church Women United  and United Church of Christ Women .

Youth Fellowship

This group of JR and Sr High's meet the 2nd Friday of each month and take part in a wide array of activities that are mission minded, service oriented or social.  They were instrumental in the creation of this webpage, and take pride in helping out in all aspects in the life of the church.   Their most recent projects include soup making to support the Faith Work's "Super Giveaway", and a theme cake raffle to raise money to attend the State Youth Event.

Church School Fellowship

Our school aged children (K-6th grade) enjoy taking part in group and family activities!  Church "lock-ins", field trips, holiday events and other "get togethers" are planned throughout the year to help our children and their families stay connected.  Snow tubing at a local ski resort, pot luck dinners and outings to movies and theater presentations are amung the activies our children look forward to.  The children and families also particpate in "Mission Possibles" that benefit local charities, such as Toys for Tots and CHOW.  Each summer, the children oversee a rooftop garden called "The Potted Pantry", in conjuction with Plant a Row,  that grows fresh herbs and vegetables for CHOW clients.
